SOULWAX MACHINE - PROCESS

The House of Curves are proud to have been part of the creation of Soulwax 'Machine'. Directed by Saam Farahmand and Produced by James Waters.

This clip presents a split screen that describes the process of making MACHINE from Previsualisation to seeing it premiere at The Big Chill Festival in 2010.

A combination of techniques were used to create the clip.
A very detailed previsualisation was made by Andrew Daffy which mapped out and developed Saam's concept.
A physical build of individual sections by Georgia Shelton and Jack Kirby. Some elements for final use, some for CGI reference.
A motion control shoot to capture all of the elements under the lighting direction of Franklin Dow.
A CGI conveyor belt, liquid elements and plinth was then created in Maya by Daffy and Dan Prince.
A final stitch together, stabilisation and augmentation of the live action with the CGI was carried out in Nuke by Mikkel Hansen.
Aubrey Woodiwiss at The Mill gave it the final grade and look.
